SUGARHOUSE/JAN 8THTired of Christmas cheer? Here is the perfect antidote to an overdose of heartiness. Sugarhouse. It sounds sweet but packs a punch like arsenic. ******************* Two plus points. One, Sugarhouse tells one of those nasty simple urban tales that could happen to anyone. That means you. One minute you are wandering along, minding your own business; the next your turn a corner and find yourselves trapped in a basement with rats. Second plus point: the acting is terrific. Okay, in Sugarhouse the innocent loner – the riverting Steven Mackintosh - is not all the innocent. He is actually in the market for a gun and he voluntarily agrees to do the deal with Ashley Walters, playing a fast talking, double dealing, half cracked, crack head. Not a good idea. But Mackintosh might just have got away with it if only Walters had not malignly sourced his gun for sale from wicked crim Andy (King Kong) Serkis (pictured hairless but unhappy, main photo), who throws a fit that would shame most wild beasts. Stuff these three together in a derelict East London warehouse and prepare to be scared. To be very, very scared. Sugarhouse is available to buy on DVD for £15.99 from 7th January 2008.
