SLOUGH GOES TO HOLLYWOOD/WHAT RICKY DID NEXTYes, RG – Mr Office, David B – is making a movie. Title: His Side Of The Truth. Oh, yeah. ******************************* Actually, the title is THIS Side of the Truth, not simply "His", but you get the gist. Premise: A world, rather like our own, except everyone is completely honest. They not only don't lie, they don’t even know how to lie. Until one day, one person - enter Ricky - figures it out and finds that everyone believes him, no matter what whopper he lays on them. No, the hero’s name is not George W. Bush. This is comedy, not harsh reality. Ricky G is not merely in the film but has written the script and will be directing it along with Matthew Robinson. But Gervais will not be the only one getting kudos as he has assembled an A-list cast starting with Jennifer Garner, Rob Lowe, Jonah Hill, Louis CK, Christopher Guest, Tina Fey, Jeffrey Tambor, and John Hodgeman leading the way. As if all this wasn’t enough to occupy a man who famously could not even run a photocopier, let alone an entire office, Gervais has launched a blog and video diary to record the production process. Here is his latest contribution on his third week in Prodcution: "With the main cast complete we have been concentrating this week on the smaller supporting roles. We've been casting in Boston and New York as there are about 70 distinct speaking roles to fill. We are trying to avoid the "Hollywood actor look". No botox, perma-tans, or unfeasibly white teeth. Normal people. And by normal people I mean people bordering on a freak show exhibit. (In case any of the successful applicants are reading this I don't mean you.). We want fat, thin, young and old of every race and demographic. Preferably with faces like a catcher's mitt and teeth like a vandalised grave yard." Sounds like the UK dance champion has not lost any of his engaging energy. The blog and video diary are on rickygervais.com. Filed March 20, 2008 | ![]() |
