SHORT FILMS/MANY ARE THE SHORT

What a different a decade makes. In the middle of the 90s, just when camcorders were sprouting up like sunburns in summer and everyone was starting to think about making a short film, a cry went up that there was no where to show these potential gems.

That was then.

Now you can hardly open your front door without running into a new shorts festival of some sort.

And if there was not already enough interest in making these mysterious art films, there are innumerable competitions as well designed to prod you into shooting something even if you would rather be back in bed watching a favourite DVD.

Oooo, where is it all leading us?
