SHORT CHANGING AUDIENCES

It's only fair that film-makers hype their goods with the best possible scenes, isn't it?

After all, they believe their work is great. At least you have to hope that they do. And trailers are actually only glossy "commercials" after all, not genuine "teasers". They don't pretend to give you a precise summary of what to expect.

But it is annoying to be lured into a film by a punchy trailer only to discover that your have already enjoyed all the best scenes. Indeed, even some of those scenes only work because they are cut short and hacked around!

So should we be lobbying for more honesty in trailers??? Should we be offering money back to cinema-goers who feel they have been lied to???

It's a tempting prospect, I must say, and it would certainly put film-makers on their toes . ... to be continued ...
