FILMMAKING/HOW LONG IS A PIECE OF STRING?Film-making may be the most glamorous occupation in the world today. Which explains why so many people in other treasured occupations fall all over themselves when they are offered a chance "to be in a film." But, of course, the reality of film-making is a far, far cry from the common perception as a time for hobnobbing with beautiful names and then walking down the red carpet, as the practitioners know. This section looks at the true stars of the film world, often anonymous figures lurking far behind the cameras but providing vital services, from raising money to marketing the final product. Pre-Production will cover matters that matter before a film goes on location, including Finance, Scriptwriting, and Casting. Production will have news on issues such as Set Dressing, Cinematography, Stunt Scenes, and Sex. Post-Production will deal with how the film is "made" after it wraps, looking at Editing, SFX, Music, and Sound among other things. It seems likely that everyone who has ever seen a film has at least thought about making one. Hear they can go through the process at their leisure. | ![]() |
