"THE ADVENTURES OF GEORGE THE PROJECTIONIST"Cinema Paradiso meets Pulp Fiction. You couldn’t make it up! But an oddball called Tim Higham did. And he has a new DVD to prove it. Having honed his cinematic skills on four award winning shorts, this writer/director made his first feature – get this – by secretly filming at the BAFTA headquarters in London. FOR FIVE YEARS!!!!! How did he get away with it? And whatever was he filming? you might well ask? It turns out his hero was a chap called George Warner, who plays a cinema projectionist who dreams of becoming a film star, only to find himself caught up in a mad Italian director's remake of the aforesaid Cinema Paradiso and Pulp Fiction. Also, Higham did not spend the whole of the five years indoors at BAFTA. It just took him that long to get the footage he needed. Don’t tell BAFTA. In between these clandestine takes he was out and about in London so there is a slew of exterior footage as well, most of it amusing madcap stuff, as you can see for yourself right now on the movie site. Originally shot on 16mm, the new DVD includes 134 minutes of original material including the 79 minute main feature, director's commentary, and extra scenes.
